ABOUT THE ARTISAN: Bay Area native Marianna Matthews has been a serial crafter most of her adult life, but sewing and jewelry-making are two pursuits that have stuck. Her designs reflect the aesthetic of simplicity and subtlety she came to appreciate during her years living in Japan, blended with the Western benefits of non-traditional experimentation and even boldness. Discovering FabMo a few years ago has been a boon. The wide variety of materials, colors, and prints would inspire anyone. Then, there is often the added challenge of fixed sizes. This adds another dimension to the creative process. Above all, she enjoys the welcoming community of crafters, and, of course, the treasure hunt.
