Surface Embroidery (WK-SUR-0315)

$45.00

10:30 am to 12:30 pm Sunday, March 15th

Jumpstart your creativity by learning a variety of embroidery stitch techniques on muslin fabric. You will learn what certain stitches can be used for and see practical examples in Laura’s handmade pieces. By the end of the class, you will know how to create your own custom design by drawing an image and using your new stitch skills to bring your design to life. Or if you prefer to follow a pre-designed pattern (such as those found in commercially available embroidery kits), this class will help give you a better understanding of the different stitch techniques that are required.

This is a skills-building class, so there is no finished product. Instead, you will take home a piece of muslin with your practice stitches, along with the stitch instructions.

The fee for this two-hour class is $45, and all materials are provided. Perfect for beginners, but experienced stitchers wanting a refresher are welcome. This class is open to participants ages 13 and up. All minors aged 12 to 14 must have a paid for seat and be accompanied by a paying adult.

Laura Tandeske is a former teacher and class designer for the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design. Since their closure, she has taught independently in spaces all over the Bay Area for the past nine years. She has over 50 years’ worth of experience with the art of embroidery, and her specialty is non-counted surface embroidery.
