Stitching Stories from Scrap Fabric (Fabric Book Making) (WK-FBK-0712)

$50.00

9 am to 12 pm Sunday, July 12th

Join us for a personalized fabric book making workshop at FabMo. In this class, you will learn how to make and embellish a small fabric book using scrap fabric, yarn, wallpaper, and various notions. A simple blanket stitch will bind the pages into an expressive book of texture, shape and color. During the class, you will have the opportunity to use stamps and even a typewriter to mark your pages with a meaningful word or phrase. (Note: To save time, participants may want to brainstorm some ideas on words or phrases ahead of the class).

The workshop fee is $50, which covers all the supplies you will need. This class will demonstrate how to make a fabric book and complete one or two pages. The remaining pages can be completed at home with basic materials, plus needle and thread. This class is suitable for all skill levels and is open to adults only.

This workshop class will be taught by Linda Powers, who has been making books for 30+ years out of found objects and materials that she has dyed, gelli printed or otherwise manipulated. In addition to last year’s Easy Book Making class at FabMo, Linda has taught book making through Bay Area Book Artists for the past several years.
