10 am to 1 pm Sunday, January 24
In this hands-on workshop, you will design and build a handmade travel journal that will become both a practical companion and an artistic keepsake. You will learn how to assemble your journal through simple bookbinding techniques, create pockets for collected treasures, add closures and personal touches, and explore ways to capture your travel through sketching, writing, collage, color, and memory.
The fee for this three-hour class is $65, which covers all the materials you will need. No prior art or bookmaking experience is needed. This class is open to adult participants only.
Yelena Joy-Chen is a visual artist in mixed media, drawing, and photography, whose creative works have been featured in exhibitions and invitational shows all over California and in Russia. She is also an experienced art facilitator/instructor for community-based arts programs.
