FabMo Project 11 - Fabric Bowl

What: We start this new blog with a cool idea by Susan Lutter, our Marketing Committee chair - and then we’ll take it from there. The format of the instructions is a bit different than the others, but you will find them easy to follow and instructional. So here we go.

Why: because one can always use another pretty bowl to decorate a room and keep things in.

FabMo Project 12 - Boho Frame

This project is for you if you still have long skinny strips of fabric left from making fabric rope. This is a great opportunity to use them and to use that ugly frame that has been lying around the garage for an eternity and a half.

Why: This is an easy, no-sew project that can be done with kids and results in some fun, colorful and unique statement piece for a room.

FabMo Project 13 - 8” Square Bag

8” squares are never in short supply at FabMo and so we are always on the lookout for projects, that use them. Here is one that uses a lot and makes a unique bag. While a little more work than some of our other projects, it is still fairly easy and requires you to sew straight lines only.

Why: it’s fun from beginning (selecting the fabric squares) to the end (using it or giving it to someone special).

FabMo Project 14 - Bread Crumb Bag

This is a simple sewing project that helps you avoid food waste by making your own bread crumbs from stale bread that would otherwise get thrown out.

Why: Many things taste better breaded and making your own crumbs in a nice bag saves money and keeps food out of the trash.

These are instructions for a simple but cute and fun puzzle for a young child. It uses wood samples and with that a material we often have at FabMo which hasn’t featured in any project yet. Time to remedy this!

Why: Because you can always used something fun to play with for the kids and grandkids and handmade is so much cooler than another plastic toy from a big box store. It’s a simple project so an older kid/sibling can help make it for a younger one.

FabMo Project 20: Viola in a Tin

Have you seen our “My Doll’s Closet” contest? If so, you met Viola, if not, let me introduce her: Viola is the doll of Flora of Flora Makes me Smile and Viola needs new clothing. Also, I had too many Altoids tins and so this project was born: fashion design in a tin.

Why: This is a fun activity for kids and adults, add a pair of small scissors and a glue stick to make it a fun kit for taking on, e.g. a plane trip - when we can travel again.
