First Annual FabMo Art Exhibit

Quadrus Conference Center ~ Menlo Park, CA

October 24, 2009

Has it ever registered with you just how creative and talented are the people who gather treasures from FabMo?  It’s phenomenal!  If you create wonderful and useful things from the beautiful fabrics, wallpapers, trims, etc., or if you would like to rub elbows with some of the other creative folks that frequent our distribution events, read on!

Planning for the First Annual FabMo Art Exhibit is well underway to feature the clever and creative products and artists of the FabMo community.  Originally intended to share creativity amongst ourselves, it quickly became obvious we should open the exhibit to the public and promote it as widely as we can.  Our artists may choose to simply display their craft at the Expo, but they can also sell their products, created primarily from FabMo materials, to an appreciative public.

The art exhibit and sale will be on the 24th of October – early enough to avoid the rush of the holiday season, but close enough to catch people preparing for their holiday shopping.

The location is exceptional – the Quadrus Conference Center in Menlo Park - a delightful location with art displayed in the vicinity and on the walls. It also has a beautiful wall of windows to look out on the trees and the patio.  Their website says, “Nestled on a lush landscaped hilltop, Quadrus Conference Center displays one of the finest private art collections in the country. The combination of beauty, comfort and privacy is sure to inspire creativity and productivity for your group.”

From those who disassemble and reassemble the fabrics themselves (true fabric artists) to those making beautiful dolls, purses, bags, pillows, quilts, wearable art, and a myriad of other things, we have some extremely clever folks coming through our doors.  It’s time we all had a chance to appreciate the variety of talent in all of us. Come and learn what it’s like to pass on sewing skills to young people or seniors.  Learn how projects create benefit for churches, schools, and non-profits, or help to change lives of individuals.  We hope to see plenty of participants come and share with others what they’ve done with FabMo materials, and learn from others what they could do.
We are planning “meet the artist” opportunities, with break-out sessions that feature a certain
type of art, i.e. purses, pillows, dolls, blankets, etc. We also plan to have a wine and cheese tasting section of this art exhibit.

We are well into the preparation stage. We welcome your early expression of interest, whether to display, or sell, or be part of a break-out group, etc.  We also need help in the organization and promotion of this exciting event.  And we’d welcome tax-deductible corporate or individual sponsorship to help defray expenses.  We will promote the event and its sponsors with fliers, but also extensively with newspaper articles, on the internet – facebook, youtube, etc.  Also see flier here

We also welcome your company’s sponsortship. Email Jonathan: Fabrix@Fabmo.org

Registration form is here.  A reminder that products on display or for sale should be created primarily from FabMo stuff.
