We are grateful to the sources of our treasures for the great delight they provide our “treasure hunters”.  They modestly don’t wish acknowledgement, but they have enabled so much good work, and without their constant supply, our little environmental project would have no legs.

This has grown such that it is essential to have assistance each month.  Our policy is that those volunteering to help must have attended at least one of our distribution events.  There is often  opportunity to make selections for their own projects while they are assisting.  Email for more info, or to get on the schedule.

Greeting: The most important function at the event.  Hugely important, makes such a difference for our guests.  Make them feel welcome, orient them, highlight what’s new, make sure the “happy chatter” is happening, straighten and restock the fabrics.  We like a greeter here at all times from 8:45am on.  1-2 hour shifts are great. At busiest times we may have more than one greeter. Can be done before or after your own treasure hunting.

Sorting: One or two days before the distribution event with about 8 folks each 2 hour shift.

2 hour shifts starting at 8:30am.  Great networking!

Setup: The afternoon or evening before for initial setup.  Other days it’s useful to have help half an hour before opening, and/or half an hour after close.  At the end of the event, we’ve benefited greatly from help of an hour or more, as we break down and put away for next time.

Scheduling:  Scheduling Coordinators provide invaluable assistance scheduling the wonderful folks who wish to make a difference for others as well at the guests themselves.

We’re also looking for help in website maintenance, communications, organization, occasional legal advice, etc.  If you have a skill that might be useful, we’d love to hear from you.

Send an email to get on the schedule.

“We can tell what kind of freedom we are in by what we like to think and talk about, listen to, see, and do, since all our enjoyment comes from what we love.”                                                Emanuel Swedenborg
